Careers and Salary
Electrical engineer occupations are expected to grow about 7 percent through 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Although growth is hindered by the decline in the manufacturing industry that commonly employs a large majority of electrical engineers, this engineering discipline makes them versatile, allowing them to work in a variety of emerging technology sectors. This includes information technology as well as wireless and data communications. In 2011, the average salary was $89,200 per year for electrical engineers, according to the BLS.
