GAS peritonitis is a rare type of primary peritonitis, which may
be easily confused with secondary peritonitis. In young, previously
healthy women who present in septic condition but lack radiologic
signs of secondary peritonitis, an infection with GAS should be considered.
The treatment of choice is the fast initiation of antibiotic
therapy. Although surgical therapy is generally not required for
the treatment of GAS peritonitis, it may be necessary to exclude
secondary peritonitis
