NOTE: The vitamin D in calcium; vitamin D combination tablets can be represented using International Units (IU), a measurement system for fat soluble vitamins, or the metric system. Each mcg is equivalent to 40 IU of vitamin D.
Route-Specific Administration
Oral Administration
Administer with a meal or within 1.5 hours after a meal to enhance calcium absorption; administer with meals in patients with achlorhydria or other conditions of low stomach-acid production.
Avoid concurrent administration with foods containing large amounts of oxalic acid (spinach, rhubarb), phytic acid (brans, cereals), or phosphorus (milk or dairy products) which can decrease calcium absorption.
