At the beginning of the twentieth century, science, art, and planning inspired the formation of another conception of the European landscape. Along with this conception appeared a new logic, partly formed by reason and partly shaped by objectivity. The two united to produce a distinctive style in Europe called Modernism, whose influence is only now beginning to fade. However, its legacy remains clearly imbedded in European landscape, from efficient concrete and glass urban centers to planned suburbs to rural lands.
