SEM provides a number ‘goodness-of-fit’ indices (absolute fit, comparative fit, parsimonious fit) to demonstrate nomological validity and overall fit of model to data. These include Chi- square (χ2), Root Mean Square Residual (RMR), Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA), Goodness-of-Fit Index (GFI) and Adjusted Goodness-of-Fit index (AGFI). A key question concerning SEM is what are “good” indices that indicate a model’s significant and robust fit to the data? The verdict on this question is still out and also depends on the research in question. For brevity, the following contains a selection of relevant indices.
