When the teeth were assessed according to the depth of lesions, characterized as noncavitated or cavitated, from seven affected teeth in the test group only one tooth displayed cavitation, while in the control group from 46 affected teeth 11 teeth
displayed cavitation. Across both groups the teeth most frequently affected with a cavitated lesion were the 61 and 51 (each with four teeth with cavitation), while teeth 52 and 62 were affected equally (each with two teeth with cavitation).
