8.1.1 Facility shall have a comprehensive written security policy to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and regulations governing customs and international trade.
All written policies should comply with the Hanesbrands Inc. Supply Chain Security Program (dated August 4, 2009). The majority of this requirement may be covered by a contract security company's Standard Operating Guidelines or Standard Operating Procedures. There must, however be procedures that are specific for the subject facility.
8.1.2 There shall be an individual that is designated as the security manager for the facility. This role may be (and usually is) filled by the Plant, HR, Safety & Health, or other manager. The role must be filled by an HBI employee. It is not expected that security is the primary function of this manager. The training and experience of any HBI or contract security personnel reporting to the security manager may be considered when scoring the adequacy of the security manager.
8.1.3 Proper measures and methods must be used to ensure proper security of the facility perimeter.
Manufacturing and Distribution Facilities: Perimeter fencing/walls of at least 2 meters, with barbed or razor wire. All vehicle and personnel gates must be manned or secured. No gaps, clear of all foliage and clear zones of at least 1 meter on each side.
Office Facilities: All entrances must be manned or secured (card access) to only allow access to authorized individuals.
8.1.4 Facility shall have a surveillance camera system in all critical areas:
Critical areas are those areas that contain high value assets (people, material, equipment, information) or vulnerabilities that could cause widespread damage or significant lost production if compromised (e.g. electrical distribution, IT Server, WWTP, fire safety systems, etc.). Common critical areas are: personnel and vehicle access points, shipping docks, computer equipment rooms, etc.
"Dummy"" cameras (devices that look like cameras but are not actually recording video) are not authorized.
There should be a system in place to regularly check the operation of the surveillance equipment to ensure it is functioning as designed.
8.1.5 Documented relevant security awareness training shall be conducted regularly for all managers and employees.
Training should cover required security procedures (e.g. access control, wearing of ID badges, reporting of unusual incidents, etc.) and may be included with other training topics (e.g. Safety & Health, HR, etc.).
8.1.6 Facility shall be a member of :
a) Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
b) Carrier Initiative Program (CIP)
c) Business Anti-Smuggling Coalition (BASC)
d) Other
