The FLY greener programme is voluntary and customers can offset the CO2 emissions of their flights by using our online carbon calculator. All money paid for the offsets goes directly to the running of these projects and Cathay Pacific does not profit from this transaction in anyway.
Customers may use cash or Asia Miles to purchase offsets to cover CO2 emissions from their flights or make a lump sum contribution to reduce their personal carbon footprint. Cathay Pacific also takes part in the programme as it offsets the CO2 emissions generated by staff on business travel on Cathay Pacific and Dragonair flights.
We only source CO2 credit from independently reviewed and accredited projects that actually reduce CO2 emissions. We give preference to projects which are close to our major operations and our home base - such as in China.
Launched in 2007, the FLY greener programme is the first provided by any Asian airline and the first programme in Asia to allow frequent flyer miles to be used for payment.
