Goal:
Students learn to prioritize the game production effort during the first playable phase of the project on tasks of creating, through experimentation, the game’s unique functionality. Students are able to experiment their ideas developed during the pre-production into the first playable version of the game which successfully convey the first taste of the final product.
Objectives:
Students are able to present the result of the first playable phase of the game
Students are able to deliver a playable game which carry the first taste of it’s aesthetic
Students are able to finalize the presentation of the game through the game build
Students are able to provide the action plan for the upcoming alpha phase
Details:
Students prepare the mean to show the running and playable game to the class which should reflect the focus and the work during the first playable phase, and:
Make sure to have a hardware capable of showing the game to the class available
Prepare the demonstration step of the game beforehand
During the demonstration, explain how the prototype cater the expected taste
Prepare a presentation that laid out the explanation of prototyped components as per each major work area of the development:
The system final prototype and it’s predecessors
The visual and rendering final prototype and it’s predecessors
The gameplay and mechanic final prototype and it’s predecessors
Prepare a 20 minutes presentation addressing the class you game sponsors who have invested in the development of the game and would like to be reassured that the development is on track and time is being spent to create the game promised for them. Detailing some following example topics and more:
What have been done so far since pre-production is finished and why all of them contribute to the end result of the project over the longer run
Lesson learned during the making of first playable and how the team has put those lessons into improvements to how the team works together
Provide short version of the direction that the team will take during the alpha phase
Provide references to any external material being used in the presentation

Evaluation:
The running prototype of the game contain elements needed in the first playable: 50%
The demonstration of the game is smooth and well organized with good narrative: 20%
The progress presentation is clear communicate the lesson learned: 20%
The direction the team expects to take during alpha shows good reasoning: 10%
