In Poland it is the task of qualified property managers, also known as property
administrators, to manage a property. The property managers, in the course of certain
administrative procedure, are granted a property management license which is required
to provide property management services. In order to become licensed as a property
manager, it is necessary to complete relevant studies at the graduate level (above others
civil engineering), then postgraduate studies in property management, apprenticeship in
property management and, finally, to prepare a work which would include so-called
property management plan (for different types of properties: residential and commercial
ones). After successful fulfillment of the above-mentioned requirements, it is possible to
put a motion to a minister for granting a licence. As can be seen, the educational path
that needs to be followed is oriented towards gaining practical knowledge. A big part in
the education of a property manager is played by practical technical knowledge
building knowledge. It results directly from a number and type of issues a property
manager has to deal with. A property manager is expected to have knowledge and
experience especially in building, but also to know the rudiments of electro energetics
and sanitary installations. All this knowledge is essential for proper technical
maintenance of a building object.
