Effects of wintering fishery water temperatures on
progress of infection under constant-temperature laboratory
conditions (experiment 2)
Approximately 6000 experimental oysters were
raised in Ago Bay from seed oysters produced in
March 1998. Shell height was 36.3±4.1 mm and gross
wet weight was 5.2±2.0 g. On September 3, 1998,
before use in the experiment, their incidence of red
adductor disease was 90% (Table 1). The oysters' actual
incidence was likely even higher later in September and
thereafter, just before they were to winter.
