Given the scant information about the conformational
structure of cryptococcal polysaccharide we also hoped that
the analysis would provide additional information. We noted that
for most strains the isolated polysaccharides provided two peaks
denoted as Q1 and Q2, suggesting the presence of at least two
types of structures in the polysaccharide. Since these values of Q
implies an inter-scatter distance that is much larger than any inter
atomic distance we infer that it is likely to originate from a
repeating structural motif that arises from inter-molecular
interactions and/or possibly gel organization.
