Table 3 reveals an unambiguous positive relationship
between general management (GM) and the intensity of
operational (IO) with technological variability, indicating
that both stronger homogeneity in supply chain organization
and adequate selection of production, processing and
transport processes invoke more streamlined primary production
processes. This points to a set of backward linkages
towards upstream agents in the supply chain.
Primary producers involved in supply chain configurations
that appreciate low variability (notably, export-oriented
chains) receive incentives to control heterogeneity through
their interactions with better streamlined supply chain processes.
Decomposing the underlying factors of technological
variability reveals that input use and timing of
harvesting operations are key factors to reduce quality
variation.
