The present study concluded that the melanin pigment produced by the garden soil Streptomyces Species through solid state fermentation will be a potential source of antioxidant like trolox and tocopherol. In addition, the pigment can also be used in food industries as a food colorant and preservatives, if the toxicity tests are found negative. Studies like HPLC purification and structure elucidation yet to be focused to prove its potential.
