food additive by the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (21CFR184.1666).
Propylene glycol has the general
structure of a carbohydrate so for food labeling
purposes it should be included with the grams
of carbohydrates per serving declaration.
If a claim is made as to sugar alcohol
content, propylene glycol should also be
included as a sugar alcohol.
