Existence of microbial community as biofilm is
strongly beneficial compared to free cell existence in
the environment. It involves a progressive interplay
between diverse microbial community at molecular
basis which thereby facilities acquisition of new genetic
traits that strongly improve chances of survival
even in the harsh environmental conditions. Microbes
within biofilm play a key role in the production and
degradation of organic matter and the cycling of nitrogen,
sulfur, and various other elements. Different studies
on bioreactors and enrichment cultures have
significantly proved the involvement of biofilms in
the mineralization of organic and inorganic compounds
of sewage and wastewater. Besides, these
flourishing microbial communities played an important
role in removal of dissolved contaminant from the
waste water and sludge by absorption and adsorption
