Numerical
simulations
of
water
flow
and
urea-ammonium-
nitrate reactions and transport in the vadose zone, while accounting
for root water and nutrient uptake, can help in understanding of
the
dynamic
processes
in
the
vadose
zone.
Specifically,
it
would
be
possible
to
account
for
the
carry-over
of
nutrients
from
previous
periods to the current fertigation period. Such a modelling study
could lead to an optimal scheduling of nutrient applications for any
time
period.
This
is
the
motivation
for
the
present
work.
