Bangladesh names women's ICC World T20 team

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday (February 10) announced its women's squad for the ICC World Twenty20. Unlike the men's team, the women's side has already made it through to the final round of the competition and will be playing in the group stages straight away.
They earned a spot in the main competition when they finished second in the ICC Women's World Twenty20 qualifiers which took place in December 2015. In the final of the competition, they went down to Ireland in a closely-contested encounter.
Bangladesh will begin their campaign in India with two practice matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland in Bangalore on March 10 and 12 respectively. Placed in a tough group, Bangladesh will play their first two matches of the competition in Bangalore against India and England on March 15 and 17. They will then move to Chennai to play the West Indies and then up north to Delhi to play against Pakistan.
While the BCB didn't announce the captain of the team yesterday, it is likely that Jahanara Alam -- who recently took over from Salma Khatun -- will lead Bangladesh in the World Cup. A team which has had its ups and downs in recent times, Bangladesh will look to depend on its army of spinners in the World Cup due to begin on March 15.
