Accessibility Guidelines
Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), an organization affiliated with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), promotes and develops accessibility standard guidelines on mobiles. WAI suggests the Mobile Web Accessibility Guideline (MWAG) 2.0 as a mobile environment guideline based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 with four criteria, namely perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust) [15]. However, these guidelines are developed for resolving accessibility issues in mobile webpages, not specifically for mobile applications. To date, there are no internationally-agreed guidelines dealing with accessibility issues in mobile applications.
In South Korea, the Korea National Information society Agreement (NIA) has published the Mobile Application Accessibility Check Manual in 2011 [8]. We extracted the items relevant to users with visual impairment as presented in Table 1.
