Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Chaiwuti Bannawat, together with a delegation from the Thai Ministry of Education, visited the United Kingdom to meet with representatives of Teacher TV during 20 - 24 January 2010. Teacher TV is an autonomous organization under the Department for Children, Schools and Families. It gives support to all those working in education through the provision of free TV and web resources across the whole curriculum and on all key education issues.
Maximizing the potential of educational technologies is an important part of Thailand’s strategy to reach out to all educators and educational personnel nationwide. Priority is given to the development of teachers and improving the overall quality of education. To this end, the Ministry of Education plans to introduce a Teacher TV initiative, similar to that of the UK, and has assigned Burapha University, Thailand to coordinate this project.
Thailand is also keen to develop the country’s research and development capacity to promote innovation and creativity. For this reason, the Deputy Minister of Education took the opportunity to meet with the Director of Higher Education Innovation and Skills, Mr. Martin Williams, to discuss issues of support and funding for research in the UK.
