I have one pair of legendary Focal Audiom TLR tweeters available. One works perfectly, the other had the tiny wire to the voice coil damaged when removed from their previous home. I enacted a repair, and did get sound out of the unit, however it currenlty only delivering about 50% of the dynamic range and frequency response compared to the other unit. This is why I rated the pair at 6/10. I would consider this as the purchase/sale of 1 perfect unit. However, to the right person who knows how to service these units, you will most likely be able to end up with a perfect pair with very little additional investment. The magnet, driver unit, resonant chamber, etc, are all fine. The diaphragm and voice coil are not functioning properly. I just happened to stumble upon another pair, so used them in my speaker project. I COULD use the good unit and build a center channel to match with the mains, but my reference system is set up for stereo only. I'm not planning on buying another preamp to process the surround channels, and another 3-5 channel amp just to build center/surround speakers in order to use one, albeit incredible, tweeter ...
These are frequently seen in car stereo, although they were initially designed and used in the original Focal/JM Labs Grande Utopia speakers.
UPDATE: Added pics of the drivers themselves. The one with the missing plastic from the red terminal is the one that was damaged. The other works perfectly.
