The CFI can be particularly advantageous in optimizing
the space utilization of low profile inductors. In commercial
enclosed-winding inductors, the average energy density is low
since the flux density distribution throughout the volume is not
constant. This section describes two examples of CFI design.
The first one shows significant improvement in the utilization of
magnetic material and size reduction compared to a commercial
inductor, whereas the second example is used for fabrication and
validation for the design of a CFI.
