Live-body weight
The average live-body weight, heart girth and
body length measurements for growing calves and
adults are shown in Tables 1 and 2 respectively.
Analysis of variance revealed a significant
difference (P < 0.01) in live weight between sexes
in all ages and between intact bulls and castrates.
Birth weight averaged 26.8 kg in male and 15.5 in
female calves. Mature weight was 146.4 ± 19.3 kg
in cows, 292.8 ± 31.6 kg in intact bulls and 306.8 ±
31.3 kg in castrates.
