The presence of or a lack
of a continued relationship with a primary care
provider (PCP) might result in a lack of counseling
or encouragement to get tested. This theme
describes the relationship between the PCP and
the individual, which may lead the individual to
get screened and increase their awareness about
HBV. For example, a screened man said: “Well, if
you have a regular doctor that you go for checkup,
the doctor should be able to tell you to get tested.”
The lack of medical continuity can also negatively
impact individuals’ beliefs and actions related to
HBV screening
