3.6. Online survey results
Current responses to the online survey (n = 6) suggest industry trends that are consistent with the case study of the two food processing facilities. Controlling for facility size, cleanliness and satisfaction with the overall effectiveness of the pest management program was greatest in large facilities (x > 100,000 sq. ft.) ( Table 3). There was no relationship between facility size and the rating of the effectiveness of residual pesticide applications and fumigants. Monitoring trap effectiveness, however, was rated as more effective by large facilities and not effective by smaller ones. Monitoring trap effectiveness was also ranked lower by facilities with lower perceptions on facility cleanliness and pest control effectiveness. Facilities with greater satisfaction with pest control effectiveness also rated sanitation effectiveness higher than facilities with lower pest control effectiveness.
