Job-shop kanban is a method which adapts the kanban system
to the job-shop environment (small production volume and high
variety of items) implemented in a pilot project by Gravel e Price
in 1988 (Gravel and Price, 1988). The main modifications
introduced in the original system were in the signals board and
in the signals themselves, which in the job-shop kanban are not
associated to the products but to a certain operation, which can be
performed using more than one machine and piece.
