Swift is known for narrative songs about her personal experiences. As a songwriter, she has been honored by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift began working on her eponymous debut album shortly after signing her record deal. After experimenting with veteran Nashville producers, Swift wrote three of the album's songs alone, including two singles, and co-wrote the remaining eight with writers Rose, Robert Ellis Orrall, Brian Maher and Angelo Petraglia. Musically, the album has been described as "a mix of trad-country instruments and spry rock guitars.
