material that is composed of biomass from a living source and that can be continually replenished. Biomass is material of biological origin, excluding material embedded in geological formations or transformed to fossilized material. Examples of renewable packaging materials include paper, cardboard, and bio-based plastics, i.e. materials derived from raw materials of biological origin, such as starch, cellulose, sugar, e.g. thermoplastic starch, poly lactic acid (PLA), cellophane, as well as conventional materials such as PET, PE and PP derived from sugar.
In case of partial renewable material content, the actual quantity of renewable material must be considered.
