2.3. Operational procedure
The phytoremediation process with attached growth was
operated in an ambient air temperature (27e29 C) for 15 months.
After the acclimatization period, the experiments were initiated
from January 2012 to June 2012 to determine the state of present
wetland system denoted by hydraulic retention time (HRT), treatment
performance and plant growth with the intention of organic
pollutant elimination considering the effluent discharge norms
specified by the national pollution control board of Iran
(COD < 100 mg/L and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5)
