a two-sample t test. A paired t test was carried out to compare carapace temperatures
for each Uca species when the crab was exposed to air on the surface and in the burrow,
whereas a two-sample t test was used to compare similar carapace temperatures
between two Uca species. The percent body water loss for both Uca species at different
relative humidity levels was analyzed using regression. The regression lines of changes
in percent body water loss with time for the two Uca species and for each relative
humidity condition were compared in terms of their slopes and elevations (Zar,
1996). All percent data were arcsine-squareroot transformed prior to statistical analyses
to conform to data normality
