RESULT AND DISCUSSIONS
The simulated return loss is presented for the optimized set of
antenna parameters in Fig. 3. The simulated impedance
bandwidth of the proposed antenna for lower frequency band
is ranging from 4.151 GHZ to 4.6 GHz, with respect to the
central frequency of 4.4 GHz and for upper frequency band
ranging from 4.9 GHz to 6.3 GHz referred to the central
frequency at 5.36 GHz. The simulated result shows that the
proposed antenna has good impedance bandwidth which
covers the required band widths of the 5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN
bands. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a FR4 substrate
using simple screen printing and chemical etching process.
The simulated gain of the proposed antenna is shown in Fig. 4.
The antenna has a maximum simulated gain of about 4.48 dBi
in lower frequency band, whereas in the higher frequency
band, the antenna gain is within a range of 4- 5.12 dBi. The
gain of the proposed antenna can meet the requirements of
wireless applications.
