Intact hierarchical processing from the striate cortex to the
middle temporal (MT) and medial superior temporal (MST) regions is
necessary for propermotionperception[1]. Earlier observations reported
akinetopsia and impaired speed discrimination in lesions involving these
areas [2–3]. Meanwhile exaggerated motion perception has been rarely
described [4,5]. Here, we report two patients with exaggerated motion
perception for the static and moving objects only when associated with
retinal image motion, and discuss the possible mechanisms.
