One of the basic ideas of the conceptual model, which is presented in figure 1, is that e‐business
adoption and its impact is not strictly an intra‐firm issue. This is due to the interactive nature of ebusiness
applications. In this research, e‐business adoption is related to the characteristics of ebusiness
applications in coherence to the characteristics of the agri‐food sector, as well as, those
related to the relationships of supply chain members of the specific sector (analysis in section 2.2).
Moreover, e‐business is linked to the impact on company’s logistics‐related processes. The conceptual
model, as well as the relationships between the concepts are described below and are deduced from
empirical researches
