Heat production was calculated using a computer program
based on inputted RER and VO2 values. The program derives a
caloric value based on the measured RER. This caloric value is
then used with measured VO2 to calculate heat production. Heat
production is linear between and RER of 0.70 with a caloric
equivalent of 4.686 k cal/LO2 and an RER of 1.00 with a caloric
equivalent of 5.047 kcal/LO2
