In conclusion, using UV-VIS absorption spectra
it was determined that each photoinitiator had a
different effect on polymerisation due to its own
specific absorption of UV radiation of 375nm.
This was then validated by the rate of polymerisation
experiment. The rates showed a relatively
large difference in the speed and conversion level
of polymerisation for the two photoinitiators
- Irgacure 651 with a qualitative absorption value
of 0.374% and Irgacure 1800 with a qualitative
absorption value of 0.233%, both with a concentration
of 0.1% in acetonnitrile.
