Sources of information, age and level of education influence
cognitive and perceptual assessment.
More specifically, the study carried out by Tasci(2007) demonstrates that age, race, and a previousvisit to the tourist destination are very important for
the destination image created in the minds of tourists.
Meanwhile, level of education and (socio-psychological)
motivation to travel influence affective assessment, i.e.,
feelings and emotions (Moutinho, 1987; Gartner, 1993;
Baloglu and Brinberg, 1997; Walmsley & Young, 1998).
Indeed, both perceptual-cognitive and affective assessment
configures the overall image that people develop
about a tourist destination (Baloglu and McCleary,
1999a).
