1-MCP treatment. Pretreatment of geranium
inflorescence with the ethylene action
inhibitor 1-MCP was effective at reducing
petal abscission in all cultivars (Figs. 2–5).
Treatment with 1-MCP at 0.1 μL·L–1 for 1 h
was effective at reducing petal abscission
rates following ethylene treatment compared
to control flowers held in air in all cultivars
except Fox. In ‘Fox’, which was the most
ethylene-sensitive cultivar, higher dosages
of 1-MCP were required to reduce the percent
petal abscission to control rates (Fig. 3).
