The correlation between the rate of RSV diseased plants in the
current pentad and the amount of viruliferous L. striatellus (the amount
of viruliferous L. striatellus × the viruliferous rate of L. striatellus) two
pentads prior was significant; the correlation coefficient was 0.273.
The correlation was positive and was subjected to a test of significance
(P = 0.01), indicating that the amount of viruliferous L. striatellus promotes
the development of rice stripe disease. Theamount of viruliferous
L. striatellusmay be a biological factor applied in short-termforecasts of
the rate of RSV diseased plants.
