eous solution of FeCb (Aldrich, [c]=O.12 moi.l-‘) in the
presence of 1-Naphtalene sulfonic acid (l-ANS, Aldrich). The
initial ironIJJ/pyrroIe and dopantipyrrole mole ratio was chosen
to be 2.2 and 0.33 respectively. The precipitates were collected
by filtration, thoroughly washed, then the solution of PPy was
lyophilyzed. A grape-like structure PPy latex was obtained. A
classical epoxy prepolymer, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A
(DGEBA, Dow Chemicals) was used with hardener systems
comprising: isophorone diaminc (IPD, Hills) and 3,3,5-
trimethylcyclohexylamine (TMCA, Janssen Chemica). Different
molar ratios I-amine/epoxy were tested. Then the epoxy
material was mixed with PPy or carbon black (Monarch 1100,
Cabot) and degazed under vacuum during 30 min. The
composites were cured for 2 hours at 80°C and 4 hours at 140°C.
