One of the islands in the middle of the falls (which I'm going to call the "middle island" from now on) had a boat dock as well as stairs leading up to a tight lookout with railings to support visitation via boat tour. Julie and I also noticed a separate rock or island with a natural arch nearby the middle island.
Take the Belvedere panoramic trail right to the top of the falls, or take a thrilling optional boat ride to a large rock in the middle of these dramatic falls for a closer look. Being able to get so close to these 75-foot (23-meter) falls allows you to really feel their power and force.
he Rhine Falls on the Upper Rhine is the largest plain waterfall in Europe, and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland to boot. The fall is 150 meters wide, and 23 meters high, so the sheer size of it makes for a pretty impressive sight. In summer, when the water volume is at its highest, is the best time to see the Rhine Falls.
