The drying experiments were performed with a pilot scale spray
dryer (Mobile Minor Miro-Atomizer, Denmark). The extract containing
MD was atomized froma rotary atomizer into a vertical co-current drying
chamber 0.87 m in diameter and with a height of 1.2 m under various
operating conditions. The inlet and outlet air temperatures were
chosen as 200 °C and 100 °C, respectively. The control of outlet air temperaturewas
regulated by adjusting the feed flow rate. The atomization
pressure and the air flow rate were kept constant as 392 kPa and
1.54 m3/min, respectively. The dried powders were collected from the
cyclone separator and after cooling to room temperature packaged in
glass jars and were kept in the dark, in cold storage until they were
analyzed
