Talking books are a type of audio recording. they are played on a computer and, as a story is read , the matching written text is displayed. Listening to the story is therefore accompanied by following the written text. There are many commercially available talking book, but book recordings prepared by teachers and the children themselves are an option. The use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to facilitate literacy development in young children is covered in Chapter 24.
