Percentage of radiation blocked by Aprons at selected kVp’s
Lead aprons cover about 75%-80% of a person’s active bone
marrow.
Cracked or damaged aprons are not effective shields. Handle
them carefully and do not fold them.
The amount of attenuation provided by a lead apron depends on
its physical condition, how it is worn, its lead equivalency, and
the kVp (energy) of the x-ray beam.
