Grading up
Grading up is the mating of purebred sires to grade females. Most of the animals on farms in the united states are not purebreds. The mating of purebred sires with these grade animals is a good way to animal not eligible for registry. it does not require as much money since only the purebred sires must be purchased. How quickly the animals are improved depends on the species of animal. Animals with short generations, such as swine, are improved fairly rapidly. Those with longer generations, such as cattle or horses, take longer to produce improvement.
