Midterm Mock and Midterm Marking ---
Section A.3:
- Questions 43 and 45 are too vague. I will attempt to write much clearer scenarios in the real paper for example: "When asking someone about their plans for the evening" or "The start time of a near future event"
Section B.1:
- I have decided to ignore "than" when marking, since most of the sentences have the word "than" separated from the comparative (later in the sentence). I have updated this section to always include "than" for comparatives or "the" for superlatives, and you don't need to include this in your answer.
Section B.2:
- I have removed "the" / "than" if it is next to the adjective or adverb (because otherwise it makes the answer really obvious). You may include "than" in your answer for comparatives and "the" for superlatives, but if you don't it doesn't matter - I will award marks solely on the formation of the adjective/adverb. Hint: if you see "than" later in the sentence you probably want to use the comparative.
- Questions 65, 66, and 70 all make sense in both the comparative and superlative forms. These are poor questions. I will ensure such questions are not included in the midterm. Should I accidentally leave such a question in the midterm, correct formation of either answer will earn you the marks.
