I think we have about 15 more minutes.
It’s 5:20.
The sun slowly sets.
A shadow on the cliff wall slowly creeps its way toward Horsetail Fall.
The sun disappears behind a mountain.
The waterfall starts to glow orange.
Great.
The Horsetail, it’s happening right now.
The magic of the Fire Fall is finally starting.
The splashes of the stream are also glowing orange.
This is it. I think we’re living the magic minute, right in the magic minute.
Right now it’s a beautiful orange, but it could turn red in the final minute or two.
The orange color gets darker and darker, taking on an almost reddish color.
5:38. We’re on the last moments. These are the very last moments of the light.
And then…
The waterfall’s like lava.
A red stream flows down the black rock face.
This is truly the moment where the Fire Fall makes its appearance.
The waterfall stays fiery red for only a minute or so.
It’s a sublime moment that moves all who witness it.
Once the sun sets, the Fire Fall darkens and blends in again with the surrounding rock.
It was great. All right. How do you say it in Japanese? It was great.
Subarashii.
Subarashii.
Shall we go?
It’s going to be dark.
Thank you.
My pleasure.
A mysterious phenomenon takes places along a granite wall.
Its ephemeral nature accentuates its beauty. Adding a splash of color to Yosemite Valley. It’s a magical moment.
