Thin-layer chromatography. TLC was performed on
a Merck TLC plate (200×200 mm; Darmstadt, Germany)
of DC-Fertigplatten Cellulose with a solvent system of 1-
butano:pyridine:water (6:4:3, v/v/v). Sugars on the plate
were detected by heating at 130 to 140oC for 5 min after
spraying with p-anisidine hydrochloride.
