How to apply?
In order to apply for the Liberal Arts & Sciences program of University College Maastricht, you first have to apply via Studielink.
If this is the first time you are applying to a university in the Netherlands, you must create an account in Studielink. Please be informed that applicants with a home address in the Netherlands must log in to Studielink with their DigiD. If you do not have a DigiD make sure to apply for one as soon as possible as it can take up to 5 working days before you receive this.
Application via Studielink
PLEASE NOTE: all students with a registered address in the Netherlands and a current Citizen Service Number (BSN) must have their own DigiD code in order to log on to Studielink.
To apply to UCM via Studielink, you must apply for the study programme of Liberal Arts & Sciences (University College Maastricht). Once you have submitted your application via Studielink, you will receive an email from Maastricht University containing login details for the My UM portal, where you can finish the application process by uploading all required documents (see checklist below).
Please be informed you are required to upload all relevant documents within two weeks after submitting your application via Studielink.

Upload copies of obtained diplomas*, certificates, transcripts and/or grade lists
Upload a personal statement containing 800-1200 words**
Upload the TOEFL or IELTS certificate (click here for criteria and exceptions)

Please be informed that if you have not yet obtained your diploma you can still apply with your latest grade list. Should you then be invited by the Board of Admissions you can send in your diploma as soon as you have obtained it.
** What is a personal statement?
The personal statement is an important part of your application and is a means to introduce yourself to the Board of Admissions. In this statement you should explain in English why and what you wish to study at UCM. The personal statement could answer questions like: Why would you like to study at UCM? What kind of subjects are you interested in and what makes them interesting for you? What do you expect of a college education? Do you already have plans for after your graduation?
Translation of required documents
Diploma's and/or grade lists sent to UCM which are not in English, French, German or Dutch need to be accompanied by an official translation in English. The translation needs to be uploaded together with the diploma and/or grade list in the original language.
