Between 1941 and 1961, ACCA members were authorised by statute to act as auditors of public and private companies. This right was removed, however, after the incorporation of the national accounting body - the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka in May 1961, when ACCA members were included into the new body.
ACCA is held in high regard by the business community, with several large organisations holding ACCA Approved Employer status in recognition of the excellent support and development opportunities they provide to ACCA students and members. In addition, a significant proportion of ACCA members in this country occupy senior positions in commerce, industry and the public sector.
Interest in the qualification is growing with awareness of ACCA's presence and its well-structured portfolio of qualifications.
