In this section, the robustness of proposed three phase converter based welding power supply is demonstrated by the simulation. The simulation is carried out to study the static and dynamic performances of the system. Each converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) together with voltage mode control. The dynamic performance of the converter has been evaluated by suddenly varying the welding load in the steady state condition. The simulated results for light load and rated load conditions are shown in Figs. 3-6. The input and output voltage/current waveforms of proposed 7.5 kW supply operating in DCM for a 30 V/250 A load is shown in Fig. 3.
